So where is Cinque Terre... its on the Italian Riveria in the Liguria region of Italy. Nic and I went for the August bank long weekend in August 2009 and it is currently on top of my favourite places I've visited. My little piece of heaven :)
Cinque Terre (aka 'the five lands') has five villages - Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore along the coastline. There is a train that runs between all the towns or there are fantastic hikes (which Nic and I did all of the hikes between the 5 towns once).
We stayed in Riomaggiore which was a beautiful little town with some fantastic restaurants. The food was amazing and the gelato even better :) I think we averaged 3 gelatos each a day. The weather was amazing while we were there - 30 degrees +, bright blue sunshine, and clear warm waters... heaven!!!
