Ascot races - 20 Jun 09

It was time to frock up, don a hat/fascinator, and drinks lots of champagne. The mix for a perfect day! I even saw the queen when she arrived, and watched a few horse races :) Loved it! Was a very long day... caught the train at 10 (and had our first glass of champagne) and dropped into bed about 11pm that night - very sore feet. Was worth it though. And the weather (even though it was summer) was quite chilly but luckily the rain held off.

A day in Oxford - 7 June 2009

Olga, Naiomi, Charlene, Lisa and I all ventured off to oxford for the day on Sunday 7 June 2009. It was a very early train (especially seeing as I was home extremely late following the day trip to Hampton Court the prior day. Oxford is so amazing... in the morning we spent 3hrs on a walking tour around the various college campus's - immaculate gardens, spectacular old chapels, libraries and accomodation. It nearly made me want to go back and study... well maybe not quite.

We then headed to a quaint little pub for a sunday roast followed by further wandering around the town... and of course desert at a wonderful little bakery. Followed by the train trip home - what a weekend.. absolutely exhausted.

Great place! Now I need to go to Cambridge for the day to compare.

Hampton Court Palace Festival - 6 Jun 09

Saturday 6 June 2009 - day trip to Hampton Court Palace with Kathy and her friends. Kathy and I went to Hampton Court to check out the palace early afternoon and spent a few hours wandering the castle, the gardens and the maze. Then we met up with the others to enjoy the Symphony Orchestra playing the four seasons within the Palace courtyard. Absolutely beautiful!!! In intermission we had a wondering picnic in the palace gardens with loads of food and wine. All in all a great day - even though it was freezing!
